A slat conveyor, also called a chain plate conveyor, uses metal or plastic slats joined into a conveying surface. Unlike belt or roller conveyors, a slat conveyor has a hard, load-bearing, wear-resistant surface, making it suitable for heavy loads, oily conditions and wash-down environments.
Start with slat material. Stainless steel slats resist corrosion and high temperature, fitting food, chemical and water-wash environments. Plastic slats (POM/PP) are light, quiet and acid-resistant, fitting electronics and daily chemicals. Carbon steel slats cost less and fit general conditions.
Then look at pitch and width. Pitch determines conveying smoothness and load capacity; choose a larger pitch and thicker slats for heavy loads. Set width with margin beyond the material size, and leave enough inner radius on curved sections to prevent jamming.
Slat conveyors come in straight and curved types, and can be fitted with side guides and dividers for sorting and positioning. Zhenxi Automation (Huizhou) customizes slat conveyors to your material shape, weight and environment, working with whole-plant logistics planning.
